The Pittsburgh Technology Council’s Beyond Big Data: AI / Machine Learning Summit was held at the Pittsburgh Marriott City Center on Thursday 30 January 2020. SHzoom CEO and Founder, Ingrid Cook, was invited to be a moderator for a legislative briefing on artificial intelligence at the Pittsburgh Technology Council’s big data summit at the Pittsburgh Marriott International. Besides the fascinating ways our National Defense Team is using AI, the invaluable insight offered by esteemed VP panelists from Google, Amazon, Argo AI, and PITT OHIO, and the amazing suggestion for local “hands-on” AI sessions by political leaders in the room; the most useful takeaway answered this popular question: “What is the difference between AI and Machine Learning?” Renowned AI expert, Martial Herbert of Carnegie Mellon University answered that “Machine Learning is a component of AI. Artificial Intelligence is made up of multiple components” rendering its ability to not only learn from massive amounts of data, but to “learn, decide, and act.”
