Making An Impact

SHzoom’s participation in the Pittsburgh Technology Council’s LAUNCH program exceeded our expectations! As we guided our mentees through the teachings from the Becoming Athena curriculum and discovered their Birkman results which revealed each mentee’s motivation, self-perception, social perception, and mindset, we quickly realized this was not your average mentoring program.

LAUNCH was designed to make a lasting impact beyond a few weeks of discussion around STEM professional development and interactive resumes. LAUNCH provided us an opportunity to see the world through the unblemished and compassionate lens of our mentees. We were inspired by their enthusiasm for learning and their commitment to raising the bar as it relates to social inequalities. We felt a sense of pride as we watched our mentees present their final projects; the growth we witnessed in such a short period is a testament of LAUNCH’s impact and success. Hats off to the Maria, Marie, and the PTC Team! SHzoom is honored to stand with you as we develop the next generation of Pittsburgh Women in STEM!
